Passive house is a rigorous voluntary standard that results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.

Cygnum have a wealth of Passive House experience. Our team of talented specialists includes two highly qualified designers who have passed the rigorous exams set by the Passivhaus Institute and are experienced in the design, engineering and on-site phases of both residential and large commercial projects.

In 2011 Cygnum supplied and erected the timber frame for Oakmeadow school in Wolverhampton, one of the UK’s first schools to be built to the Passive house standard. It went on to win the 2012 Passive House award in the Non Domestic category and since then Cygnum have supplied many other schools and public buildings built to the standard.

In 2013, Cygnum became the first Irish company and one of only two between Ireland and the UK to have a Passivhaus system – a methodology for designing a Passive House – certified by the Passivhaus Institute in Germany.

Using this system in the architectural design phase of your dream home project will be greatly appreciated by your architect.

Our Passive House experience permeates all aspects of our business from engineering and design through to on-site installation thereby providing a seamless experience as part of our dedicated customer service.
