The Enterprise Centre – An Update.

As you might be aware from our previous blog, the team in Cygnum Timber Frame are incredibly proud to be part of the The Greenest Building in Europe, The Enterprise Center at the University of East Anglia.  100% of the Timber Frame has been engineered, manufactured and erected by Cygnum. The project is due for completion in May 2015.  Watch this informative short film which gives you an idea how ground breaking the build is in terms of BREEAM and Passivhaus standards.

 

Exquisite Cygnum House For Sale

This impeccable 3000 sq ft Cygnum built home recently came  on to the market in Clonakilty, Co Cork.  The property known locally as Castleview boasts an idyllic riverside setting. The build was very much a collaboration with it’s current  owner and Cygnum, inspired by the world-renowned designer Philippe Starck.

The finished product was so impressive it featured on RTÉ’s House Hunters, along with a slew of interior, construction and design magazines.

Every effort was taken by CBA Architects to utilise natural light in this house. Floor to ceiling windows on south, east and west elevations creates light filled living spaces.  A primary of the design  was to create a living space that was both energy efficient and contemporary.  Cygnum’s Precision250® wall system enabled the build to reach an A rated status.

Leading Irish timber frame manufacturer Cygnum is launching a pioneering closed low embodied carbon panelised building system that integrates cellulose insulation. The Precision system has been developed by the company to drive down the costs of a building system that’s becoming increasingly popular due to its thermal performance, healthiness and low environmental impact.

“Since the early days of Cygnum we have been building timber frame with cellulose,” Cygnum MD John Desmond said. “But we’ve found that cellulose has been confined to the upper end of the market because it can be quite costly. It’s an ideal insulation for timber frame because of the way it fills the panel once it’s installed correctly. We wanted to find a way to make it as cost effective as possible for our clients to use cellulose.”
