COP26 – The Built Environment

Today, COP26 dedicated its focus to The Built Environment. The Enterprise Centre at the University of East Anglia (UEA) was featured in the ‘Build Better Now’ exhibition as one of the most exemplary sustainable building projects in the world.

The exhibition showcased building projects across the planet that offer solutions to the climate crisis through innovative and sustainable construction, design, and engineering.

Cygnum designed, manufactured, and erected the timber frame aspect of the project. Check out our case study for more details.

Cygnum has a Vision for a Green Future

Cygnum’s innovative timber frame construction methods have an undoubted impact on both the embodied and operational energy of new builds.

Not only is timber frame a sustainable and efficient method of construction, the structures actually store CO2, thus acting as a carbon sink.

CIF Safety Week 2021

Cygnum is a proud partner of  #CIFsafety21. Today’s construction safety week theme examines the importance of working safely at height.

When working at height we assess the dangers and plan accordingly. Our site teams ensure the correct PPE gear is worn at all times. Fall arrest netting to the underside of trusses is fitted to enable the work to be carried out competently and safely.

Cork Site Visit

Great site visit today to one of our large self-build projects in the beautiful Cork countryside.

Day one of this build and we are up to first-floor level getting ready to install the roof structure!

Build with confidence, Build with Cygnum!

Incredible progress is being made by our experienced erecting teams across all our housing developments this week!

Pictured is one of our developments in Cork.  Houses are wind and watertight within days of arrival to site allowing

our clients to plan their build program with confidence, and increase productivity on site.

Housing for All

Recently the government announced a new housing plan for Ireland, ‘Housing for All’.

Its objective is to ramp up Ireland’s housing supply and deliver much-needed housing units across the country.

Building sustainable, social housing developments with Cygnum offsite increases the productivity on site. Houses are wind and watertight within days of arrival to site allowing remaining trades to commence without being impacted by weather.

Straight lines made simple

Straight lines made simple, we design our houses by lining up studs with trusses using a grid system.

This is an example of our attention to detail and our strive for perfection!

Going the Extra Mile!

Another example of how we go the extra mile here at Cygnum Building Offsite, yellow banding on the exterior of our wall panels indicating the locations of studs for block layers, Simple but VERY effective.
